AND THAT’S THE DAY

So here’s what happens the day your new book comes out: Not much. It’s weird. It’s one of the biggest days of your entire life, but it feels suspiciously normal. At least in my case.

So Anne, as of today you are now officially a published author! How’s it going?

It’s going pretty much the same as always, except slightly worse because I just had the flu really bad and I’m still a little sniffly. And I had to go to Target earlier in the pouring rain for sheets, which didn’t help. But I did get a value pack of Kleenex tissues while I was there. And a knit hat. I almost bought a shirt with Han Solo on it, but then I realized I already have one just like it so I didn’t. Then I came home and did some laundry and watched CNN. Around 4:00 UPS delivered a box of books Mauro ordered, but opening a box and seeing 10 of your new books is almost the exact same feeling as opening a box and seeing six of your new books and that already happened last week. Then Mauro and I had dinner and he went to work. Soon I’ll get into bed, probably text with a couple friends about what we’re wearing to the book signing Thursday night and maybe watch an episode of Black Mirror with a clay mask on my face.

And that’s the day.

Enjoy Bent!
